From a file to a finished part
FDM 3D printing turns an idea into a physical part without tooling costs or a large production run. At DS Studio in Lodz we make one-off prototypes, functional parts, replacements, enclosures, brackets and short runs. We work with companies, engineers, designers, workshops, schools, makers and private clients across Poland. Parts can be collected locally or shipped.
Send a finished 3D model, technical drawing, sketch or dimensioned photograph. If the file is not print-ready, we can review geometry, wall thickness, assembly clearances and load direction. We can repair the model, change dimensions or design the part from scratch. Before production we establish whether strength, fit, appearance, heat resistance or cost is the main priority, then select settings for the actual use rather than one generic profile.
If no model exists, provide the damaged part or a simple sketch with key dimensions. We will determine whether the geometry can be recreated or a new design is required for the mounting method. Prototype variants can test different clearances, wall thicknesses or hole positions before a complete run is ordered.

What we can make
Typical orders include electronics enclosures, brackets, adapters, spacers, organisers, caps, knobs, machine components, assembly aids and unavailable replacement parts. FDM is also useful for product prototypes, mock-ups, demonstration models, displays, decorations, teaching aids and test variants. Companies can order repeatable short runs after a test part.
For technical projects we review mounting and load. Parts working with screws, bearings, wiring or an existing enclosure require diameters, spacing and clearances. We can suggest reinforcing ribs, a different orientation, more walls or threaded inserts. Visual parts are prepared to control layer direction, joints and support marks. Large models can be divided into keyed sections for reliable assembly.
Technology
A method matched to the purpose
Material is selected for the operating conditions. PLA offers a good surface for mock-ups, decorations and indoor parts. PETG handles impact and moisture better, making it useful for enclosures, brackets and functional parts. ASA is suitable outdoors because of UV resistance, ABS serves selected technical uses and flexible TPU works for bumpers, covers and compliant components. Other engineering materials can be proposed after review.
Layer height, wall count, infill, model orientation and layer direction also determine durability. We set them for the geometry and loads. Maximum single-part size is confirmed after receiving the model because it depends on the printer, material and required orientation. Rather than state one misleading number, we check whether the part can be positioned for strength and finish. Larger designs can be divided into joined sections with a planned assembly method.
Process
Clear stages, no guesswork
A quote starts with an STL, OBJ, 3MF or STEP file, or a description of the idea. Include target dimensions, quantity, use, colour and deadline. For a mating part, add a drawing or measured photos. We review the model, identify any repair, redesign or splitting work, and propose material, orientation, layer quality and finish.
After scope and price approval we prepare the production file, print the part and check key dimensions. As agreed, we remove supports, finish edges, install inserts or join sections. A test piece can be made before a larger run so fit and function are verified before the remaining quantity is produced.

What affects the price
Price depends mainly on machine time, material use, size, layer height, supports and quantity. File repair, design from scratch, threaded inserts, bonding and finishing are quoted separately. Two similarly sized models may differ in price if one prints unsupported while the other requires long production and cleanup.
As a guide, a simple small part usually starts at about PLN 30–60, while a larger enclosure or functional prototype often falls around PLN 80–250. These are examples rather than a fixed price list; the exact amount is confirmed after file review. Short runs can reduce the unit price by spreading preparation across more parts.

Before you send a file
Which files can I send?
STL, OBJ, 3MF and STEP are preferred. We also accept STP, IGES, ZIP, PDF, drawings or dimensioned photographs when the model still needs to be prepared.
Which material should I choose: PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS or TPU?
Describe the operating environment, load, temperature, moisture exposure and expected appearance. We will suggest an economical and a technical option.
What is the maximum print size?
Maximum size is confirmed after reviewing the model, material and required orientation. Larger parts can be divided into sections with a designed joining method.
Can you design the model from scratch?
Yes. We can create a model from a sketch, drawing, photographs and dimensions. Design work is quoted separately from printing.
Do you make one-off parts and short runs?
Yes. We print one-off prototypes and replacements as well as short runs. A test piece can be made before a larger quantity.
How long does production take?
Timing depends on print duration, quantity and the current queue. We confirm a realistic completion date after file review and before accepting the order.
Do you ship outside Lodz?
Yes. Orders can be collected in Lodz or shipped across Poland. Packaging and delivery are agreed in the quote.
